Halloween Themed Sensory Play

I found this on one of my favorite Instagram accounts @toysandtools.ca. This feed has so many great activity ideas from sensory play, to play focusing on fine motor skills, to book-related activities. For this particular activity, you freeze Halloween themed items inside colored water (think googly eyes, eyeball stickers, pumpkins, spiders) to make "Icy Monsters". How fun is that?

It has so many fun colors, which is a great way to incorporate learning about colors. You could even take this activity and make it a sorting activity, and have them sort out the green icy monsters from the blue ones, and then count how many of each color there are. You can use this for a Halloween party and have kids race between two cones as they rescue these Icy Monsters and carry them off on a spoon to their new cave. You can even take this activity and teach STEM by using the Icy Monsters to demonstrate states of matter. I love activities that teach skills on multiple levels, and this is definitely one of them...and just in time for Halloween, too!

You can see more activities like this on her Instagram or Facebook @toysandtools.ca
