Here is a fun, free downloadable craft to make the puppet pictured above. You can use it to pair with the book, The Very Hungry Goat.
Making it is very simple. Here is what you will need:
1 printout of the goat puppet
12 inches of string
4 brads or fasteners
hole puncher
scissors
colored pencils
1. Color the goat. To mimic the style of the book, you can color it in patches of varying colors. Color the body and the goat leg pieces as well.
2. Cut out the goat body and the leg pieces.
3. Use a hole puncher to punch out all the circle shaped holes on the legs and also on the body.
4. Attach the piece marked "back top of leg" to the rear of the goat body using a fastener or brad.
5. Attach the piece marked "front top of leg" to the front of the goat body using a fastener or brad.
6. Attach the bottoms of the leg to the top of leg pieces using another fastener.
7. In each of the holes at the top of the body of the goat, tie each end of the string.
Voila! You have a goat puppet! Great craft for story time at libraries, in classrooms, or at home!
