Catapult STEM Activity

Want to make this catapult from the book? It's super easy to make , and requires only a few inexpensive materials. You can use them to launch marshmallows for a winter STEM activity, or jelly beans for use as a spring STEM activity in the classroom.

To make each catapult, you are going to need:

6 popsicle sticks

1 mini muffin liner

3 rubber bands

tape

Here's the step by step on how to make it:

Place 2 popsicle sticks one on top of another to make a "T"

Stack 3 more popsicle sticks on top of the "T"

Use rubber bands on each end of the "T"

Place another popsicle stick perpendicular to the stack in the previous step, and secure it in the middle with a rubber band.

Use tape to affix the mini cupcake liner to the top of the popsicle stick.

So there you go! Here's a catapult you can use to launch marshmallows or other small objects. Have fun building your own catapults! I'd love to see your creations if you try it. Follow me on instagram @catwiessbrod and be sure to use #whatididtoo to share what you did!
